What the adaptation is used for
Enables one-handed operation of a steering wheel with either the left or the right upper limb. The quick release version allows simple and fast removal of the steering spinner, should other drivers not require it. This will leave behind a small clamp on the steering wheel.
Suitable for vehicles with and without airbags.
There are several types of steering aids available, some more specialist, for example glove and peg devices. Advice on the suitability of the more specialist steering aids is recommended.

Factors to consider when using this adaptation
There are alternatives to using a mechanical device which may be helpful for drivers with reduced upper limb function or strength to grip. These are vehicles which have pre-fitted modifications as standard, for example:
IGNITION – Methods to help operate the ignition with reduced function of right the upper limb
If difficulty is experienced using a traditional key-turn barrel ignition on the right of the steering column,
the following methods may be useful:

Before getting into the driver’s seat, start the ignition ( ? with the left hand) – in an automatic vehicle only; the vehicle cannot move when the gear selector is in ‘Park’).

Alternatively, some vehicles are manufactured with a push ‘start / stop’ button which replaces the conventional ignition system. This does not require a key to be inserted into an ignition, but just that the key fob is inside the vehicle – ? to clarify this
Other pre-installed (factory fitted) ignition systems or specially made adaptations for operating the ignition are also available such as:
