Having a wider door opening can assist with getting in and out of a vehicle, particularly if needing to position a wheelchair close to a driver’s seat to use a sliding board, or if there is limited flexion or mobility in the lower limbs. Often used in conjunction with extended seat runners to provide as much additional space for ease of transfer as possible.
