During his tenure at Driving Mobility, the organisation has grown extensively, mainly through collaborations with stakeholders such as the DVLA, DVSA, Motability, the Police, and research partners including universities – all focussed upon road safety. Driving Mobility is supported by the Department for Transport (DfT).
Margaret Ryan is a psychologist specialising in the application of psychological and human factors principles in the design, development and evaluation of transport systems.
Margaret Ryan is a psychologist specialising in the application of psychological and human factors principles in the design, development and evaluation of transport systems. She obtained a B.A. (Hons.) (2008) and a Ph.D. in Psychology (2013) from Trinity College Dublin. The findings from her doctoral research used extensively to inform the design and further development of Irish road safety education programmes. She conducted postdoctoral research with the Centre for Innovative Human Systems in TCD, working on EU-funded projects in the road transport and aviation sectors. Currently, Margaret manages the Irish National Traffic Medicine programme, a joint enterprise between the Road Safety Authority and the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.
Anu is a Consultant Practitioner and Head of Service for South East DriveAbility (NHS). His role mainly involves leading an ever-expanding service and providing specialist clinical input and skills into medical fitness to drive assessments.

His role mainly involves leading an ever-expanding service and providing specialist clinical input and skills into medical fitness to drive assessments. He has 31years’ experience working with patients with various physical and neurological conditions.
Anu, in 2008 became a non-executive director of Driving Mobility (formerly the Forum of Mobility Centres) and shortly after was appointed Chairman in 2013. However, he relinquished his position as Chairman in August 2017 to concentrate on his Doctoral study.
Anu has worked as a deputy chair for a steering group with CIECA Secretariat on behalf of Driving Mobility on projects such as standards-setting for disabled and older drivers for medical fitness to drive assessment and updates for the Portare Handbook. In addition, Anu is Programme Lead for a co-delivered education programme, Post Graduate Certificate in Driving Assessment & Outdoor Mobility, with the Oxford Brookes University on behalf of Driving Mobility.
Anu has completed his Doctorate in Professional Studies (DProf) from the University of Chester. His doctoral research study was on “The experiences of older drivers in adopting new technologies in cars”. He has special interests in ageing, car automation, and independent community mobility for older drivers globally.
After graduating as MBChB from the University of Glasgow in 1995, Dr Hutton continued her medical training in Aberdeen obtaining MRCP(UK) and developing her interest in Rehabilitation Medicine.

She undertook specialist training in Rehabilitation Medicine in Edinburgh, allowing her to develop more fully her interest in mobility rehabilitation, being appointed as Consultant at Astley Ainslie Hospital, Edinburgh in 2004. This role includes being Clinical Lead to the Scottish Driving Assessment Service, undertaking medical fitness to drive assessments and ensuring service standards and development. This work has led to a variety of opportunities in relation to fitness to drive including being invited to be part of Driving Mobility Expert Panel, and to be a member of CIECA Fit to Drive Topical Groups resulting in “Setting Standards for Disabled Driver Assessment”, published in 2021.

Since 2002 he is employed by Vias institute, formerly the Belgian Road Safety institute, at the CARA Department. The CARA department is the Belgian National Centre for Fitness to Drive (FTD) Evaluations and Vehicle Adaptations.

His PhD at the Groningen University (NL) dates from 2002. Since 2002 he is employed by Vias institute, formerly the Belgian Road Safety institute, at the CARA Department. The CARA department is the Belgian National Centre for Fitness to Drive (FTD) Evaluations and Vehicle Adaptations. It is the only officially recognised centre for FTD evaluations in Belgium. He was first associated to the department as a neuropsychologist and researcher acting on the topics of vision, neuropsychology, hypo-vigilance, and driver evaluation and -training. Since 2008 he is leading the CARA department, still performing but mainly supervising the official FTD evaluations.
He is involved in national and international research projects, as he Scientific Coordinator of the FTD research line within the Knowledge Centre of Vias institute.
He is also actively involved in National and EU policy making regarding FTD criteria and evaluation procedures and acts as representative at various FTD related National and EU working groups and committees. He is the leading national expert in revising and formulating the national FTD criteria as mentioned in the Royal Decree 23rd March 1998 on Driving Licences, annex 6). He was member of the EU Working Group on Visual FTD criteria (leading to EU Directive 2009/113/EU), the EU Working Group on Cardiac FTD criteria (EU Directive 2016/1106), the EU Working Group on medical Driving Licence codes (EU Directive 2015/653). He is Belgian medical and FTD representative at the EU Driving Licence Committee, Belgian representative at the NOG Working Group on Ergofthalmology, and member of CIECA Fit to Drive Topical groups.

Leanne joined Cornwall Mobility in 2021 and is their Business Development Manager and is on the Driving Mobility Board.
Leanne started her career working in Local Government and went from working in law to spending 8 years in Human Resources.
In 2002, following a suspected sprained ankle, tests showed that Leanne had Cancer. Despite several amputations, treatments and challenges, Leanne made the decision to turn every negative into a positive.

Leanne joined Cornwall Mobility in 2021 and is their Business Development Manager.
Leanne is very proud to be on the Driving Mobility Board – ‘I’ve always perused ventures I believe in and having a disability myself, being the Client, having been through the assessment process, I feel I’m in the unique position of seeing this business from all sides and making a difference’.
Sue joined Driving Mobility in early 2021 providing support to a number of projects within Driving Mobility including PRACDRIVA.
Sue joined Driving Mobility in early 2021 providing support to a number of projects within Driving Mobility including PRACDRIVA. She has worked in a variety of industries as administration and project support. This has varied from planning application support, project managing the implementation of quality assurance schemes at environmental and waste management companies and in more recent years as a Property Manager with a block management company.
Andrew qualified as an approved driving instructor in 2003 and prior to this he completed a degree in Business Administration through the University of Sheffield .
Andrew served as Project Manager on PRACDRIVA from April 2022 until June 2023, when he moved on to managing other projects in Driving Mobility. During his time as Project Manager he oversaw the launch of the PRACDRIVA resource at the CIECA Congress in Vienna

Since 2004 he has worked in the mobility sector throughout Northern Ireland and Ireland as a driving assessor for The Northern Ireland Mobility Centre and at Transport and Mobility Consultants Ireland. He completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Driving Assessment and Outdoor Mobility in 2018 with Driving Mobility and the University of Chester and is continuing to work towards achieving his Masters.
Andrew has served on various working groups with Driving Mobility, including the Standards Working Group and the Police Fitness to Drive Assessment and is a current Driving Mobility board member.
